Set a useful dot rhythm
Five-millimeter spacing works well for bullet journals and general note pages. Four millimeters supports smaller handwriting, while wider dots are easier for planning boxes and young writers.
Dots are guides rather than the subject of the page. Lower the color contrast until they remain visible at arm length but recede behind handwriting.
Plan margins before drawing
Use matching top and side margins for loose sheets. For planner inserts, reserve additional space on the punched or bound edge before drawing trackers and calendars.
The live preview helps catch a partial final row near the page edge. Adjust spacing or margin slightly instead of accepting a clipped dot pattern.
Save a repeatable insert
Export the configuration after the dot size and margins are tested. Restoring the JSON file later recreates the same layout for a new month or notebook.
